THE HALF MOON SHOWS
A FACE OF PLAINTIVE SWEETNESS

The half moon shows a face of plaintive sweetness
Ready and poised to wax or wane;
A fire of pale desire in incompleteness,
Tending to pleasure or to pain:
Lo, while we gaze she rolleth on in fleetness
To perfect loss or perfect gain.
Half bitterness we know, we know half sweetness;
This world is all on wax, on wane:
When shall completeness round time's incompleteness,
Fulfilling joy, fulfilling pain?
Lo, while we ask, life rolleth on in fleetness
To finished loss or finished gain.

My friend I've missed your words, even those of another poet who moves you. Between, not yet there, always striving...always close, yet never quite enough. I've been between alot in this past year, I hope this coming year gives me strength, courage to push forward. (Hugs)Indigo

Lovely words and photo... I have never been successful in capturing the moon, although I could gaze at it for many minutes each evening. For many years I could never tell whether a moon was waxing or waning, until the week I had to teach about the moon's phases for a class that was reading a story about the moon. Have a great weekend!
